JAMPRO President Diane Edwards says Gartner provides the country with a significant platform to boost Jamaica’s mindshare and generate new leads in the ICT/BPO industry. She said, “We are always cognizant of the charge to secure more investments in the burgeoning ICT industry and this year have partnered with Gartner as a silver sponsor. This provides us with an exhibition booth, branding and a speaking slot at the event which we plan to utilize to its fullest in generating investment leads, securing updated market intelligence and interacting with influential industry leaders.”

According to Edwards the agency has been instrumental in the build-out of ICT space and the introduction of BPO focused training curriculum to ensure Jamaica’s readiness for the expansion BPO industry. “We have to aggressively market Jamaica, our BPO readiness and capabilities to ensure the sector grows consistently,” she added.

Jamaica is the leading near shore destination in the Caribbean with the country’s ICT/BPO sector having an established track record of excellence. The ICT/BPO industry has recorded growth of over 20% in the past two years and seen the introduction of nine (9) new companies.

Another area of development that will accelerate growth that Edwards points to is the soon-to-be-established ICT incubator in Montego Bay that will lend support to the start-up operations of newly established ICT/BPO entities, and expand the activities of existing organizations.
