The conferences, to be hosted by the JN Money Services’ renowned JN Money Transfer brand, follow the successful staging of a similar conference held in Manchester, England last August. At that forum, small business owners keen on increasing their product offerings, were encouraged to consider the lucrative remittance industry and become JN Money Transfer Agents.

“The Manchester forum was a success, as it was beneficial to the delegates who attended; and presented them with an opportunity to learn about a new business venture; as well as, to increase their network of contacts, said Leesa Kow, General Manager, JNMS.

The business owners who attended the UK conference also received coaching from well-known Business Coach, Marcellus Lindsey who provided useful guidelines about entering business partnerships; and Miss Kow also explained the operations of the remittance industry as a viable business.

Speakers for the upcoming Florida conference will be the Hon. Hazel P. Rogers, State Representative, District 95; and Ms Marie R. Gill, business consultant and President and CEO of M. Gill and Associates Inc. The conference will cover topics such as: increase footfall and profit, added revenue stream, partnerships for growth and how to become a JN Money Transfer Agent. There will also be incentives for attendees who sign up to become agents.

Miss Kow pointed out that growth trends in the remittance industry, based on International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank statistics, indicated that remittance transactions worldwide were increasing.

“Recent financial data, released by the IMF and central bank sources, informs us that remittances to developing countries reached some US$404 billion in 2013.  And, the World Bank projects that global remittances will increase to approximately US$681 Billion by 2016,” Miss Kow told delegates.

In terms of global and regional remittance flows, she noted that, “Those statistics also indicate that the outlook for remittances remains strong, with global remittance flows anticipated to reach approximately US$581 Billion in 2014; an increase of 7.1 percent over 2013.  And, when we examine remittance flows to Latin American and the Caribbean, we realise that the figures are quite significant. In 2013, inflows to Latin America and the Caribbean totalled US$60 billion; and, that figure is expected to grow to US$81 billion by 2016.”

At present JN Money Transfer has a distribution network of more than 8,000 locations in 13 countries; and a strong market presence in the three major remittance markets UK, USA and Canada; as well as, presence in other key locations. The brand continues to expand rapidly across the globe with a customer base expanding beyond Jamaicans abroad and including other nationalities such as Filipinos, Ghanaians, Guyana and many Caribbean countries
