Inspirational Jamaican Film goes to Caribbean Lens Film Festival in Hollywood

MIRAMAR – Following on a successful release and tour of South Florida churches, The Gift Everlasting, a faith-based feature filmed produced by BarriVision Films in association with Jamaica Youth for Christ (JYFC) is headed to Hollywood. The film will be screened at the Caribbean Lens Film Festival in June at the Historic El Portal Theater in North Hollywood hosted by the Caribbean Heritage Organization in Los Angeles.

Written and directed by author and screenplay writer Judith Falloon-Reid and produced by her husband Michael Brown, The Gift Everlasting features the members of Acts 12, the drama division of the JYFC and popular Gospel band, Katalys Crew.

The Gift Everlasting tells the story of James played by second director and Actor Boy awardee Andrew Jones, a workaholic husband who provides well materially for his family and Joan his neglected and distracted wife played by Vanesa Clarke-Silvera on their 20th anniversary.  Joan’s well planned celebration is doomed to fail as James callously dismisses the importance of the day, adding to the pressure of an already failing marriage. As in real life, there are others waiting in the wings to console the couple in ways that can only spell disaster for their relationship. Caught in the middle of the declining relationship are their teen-aged daughters who attempt to cope with the turn of events in their own ways.

“We are very excited,” says Judith. “Not just because our film has been selected for a film festival in Hollywood but mostly because faith-based films are rarely selected for screening at secular festivals. This showcase of Jamaican talent will expose a different side of Jamaican culture, our spiritual side.”

The Gift Everlasting is the second of two faith-based films produced by the BarriVision & JYFC collaboration. The first, Just Another Friday, was the winner of the Best Jamaican Feature Film at the 2013 Int’l. Reggae Film Festival and Most Inspirational & Best Music Score at the 2014 Central Florida Christian Film Festival.
