City of North Miami Kicks Off 90th Anniversary Month Long Celebration With Inaugural Ride Along Signature Event and Job Fair

North Miami – The City of North Miami (NoMi) celebrates their unique history and culture as they gear up to celebrate their 90th Anniversary in June 2016.

City of North MiamiWith 90 years behind them, NoMi looks to the future as they map out their digital marketing and content footprint to connect with residents and rebrand the NoMi area as one of the best cites in the nation by highlighting the multitude of things to and know about the city.

Known for an endless array of arts and cultural events, accessibility to some of the most beautiful family inspired parks, delicious eateries and key innovation and vision spearhead by local government, NoMi  is truly a city on the move.

The highly anticipated celebration will take place on Saturday, June 18th at 2pm on the plaza of Museum of Contemporary Art,( 770 NE 125th St, Miami, FL 33161). The menu of events curated by the City of North Miami include: rock climbing, bounce house and music by Rock with U Entertainment. In addition there will be a 90th photo exhibit on display in the MOCA plaza.

“As we journey into the next 90 years, we are committed to transforming our community into a hub for cutting edge businesses and transforming NoMi for the better, “states Dr. Smith Joseph, Mayor of North Miami.

The city has created quite an impressive menu of events and initiatives scheduled during the month of June to kick the festivities into high gear. NoMi  will host a job fair on June 3rd at Moca Plaza (770 NE 125th St, North Miami, FL 33161.There will be over 40 vendors in attendance offering jobs, housing assistance, and other resources.

“I have a lot of ties to NoMi community.  I enjoy the eateries, visiting its music studios and have friends whom own businesses in the city. It’s great to have the chance to highlight the places I know and the new things I’ll get to discover during the month of June,” says Papa Keith.

June also celebrates Caribbean Heritage Month and for a city that boasts of a rich diverse Caribbean population, it was a no-brainer to tap radio personality Papa Keith from 103.5 The Beat to serves as the Brand Ambassador for the 90th Anniversary celebration.

The Mayor and Brand Ambassador, Papa Keith will curate a city exploration Ride Along  tour on Saturday, June 4th at 1pm. Lexus of North Miami will provide a vehicle for this excursion. The tour will be live streamed on Facebook Live and residents will be able to participate in the conversation in real-time with the hashtag  #Get2NoMi. Residents will also have an opportunity to get to know the Mayor in a relaxed environment and see a more personal side during the Ride Along as well as get a first hand look at some of the key gems in NoMi that give them such a sense of pride.

The Mayor will also join the NoMi Public Library’s summer readying initiative by participating in a story hour on Wednesday, June 8th. An appearance by Curious George promises to excite the young people of the community.

As residents glide in the summer months, they will be able to enjoy Bayshore William Lehman Park once again as its slated to reopen on June 11, 2016. The fishing and viewing pier has been restored as well as residents will be able to workout on the new fitness equipment that was installed. Ambassador Papa Keith will take over the June edition of the city’s monthly Get in Gear Community Bike Ride. The ride will begin at the MOCA Plaza, 770 NE 125 ST, with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. and departing at 8:30 a.m. sharp! Helmets are required for all participants age 16 and under.

The ride will include a special visit to the Grand Re-Opening Celebration of the North Bayshore Lehman Park and Pier. Residents can enjoy music and light refreshments during the ceremony, located at 12220 North Bayshore Drive.
