Bristol City Welcomes Poet Laureate of Jamaica, Professor Mervyn Morris

ENGLAND – Poet Laureate of Jamaica, Professor Mervyn Morris, shared his poetry  with a packed house of about 650 persons at the Bristol Poetry Institute’s Annual Reading for 2014, which was held recently at the Great Room of the Wills Memorial Building, University of Bristol, England.

Professor Morris, along with emerging Jamaican poets Mel Cooke, Yashika Graham and Richard “Dingo” Dingwall, were invited by the city of Bristol to participate in ‘Jamaica Rising’, a programme of events celebrating a new Bristol-Jamaica cultural partnership.

Jamaica Rising is coordinated by Tangent Books, Culture Khan, Bristol Festival of Literature and the University of Bristol and is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment.
